1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information when you use the Service:

• Account information: your email address and a hashed password. We never store passwords in plaintext.
• User Content: photos of your pets that you upload for AI generation.
• Generation history: the source photo, four generated variations, and any HD versions you download.
• Usage data: IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, and the number of images you generate.
• Payment metadata: transaction IDs and credit balances processed by Creem. We never see or store your full card number.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide the AI generation service and deliver your anime-style images.
• Operate, maintain, and improve the performance and quality of the Service.
• Improve our AI models only when you have explicitly opted in to contribute your photos for training.
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and abuse of the Service.
• Send service-related notifications such as credit balance updates and security alerts.
• Respond to your support requests and comply with legal obligations.

3. Pet Photos

Photos of your pets are central to the Service, and we treat them with special care. Uploaded pet photos are stored in S3-compatible object storage (such as Cloudflare R2) and are used solely to generate your anime-style variations. We do not share your uploaded pet photos with any third party except the AI generation provider required to process your request.

• You can delete any generation history entry at any time from your dashboard, which removes the source photo and all generated variations from active storage.
• Unless you explicitly opt in, your pet photos will never be displayed in public Examples or used to train our AI models.
• Pet photos may be retained in encrypted backups for up to 30 days after deletion for disaster recovery purposes, after which they are permanently removed.
• We do not sell your pet photos or any generated images to third parties.

4. AI-Generated Content

The anime-style images generated from your pet photos are stored in the same S3-compatible object storage as your source photos. You retain the right to use, download, and share your generated images subject to these Terms. Generated images are linked to your account and are not publicly accessible unless you choose to share them or opt in to be featured in Examples.

5. Data Sharing

We share your information only with the following categories of service providers, strictly to operate the Service:

• Volcano Engine: processes your pet photos to generate anime-style images. Photos are transmitted over encrypted channels and are not retained by the provider beyond the time needed to return results.
• Creem: handles all payment processing. We receive only transaction metadata and never your full card details.
• Cloudflare R2 or another S3-compatible storage provider: stores your uploaded photos and generated images.
• Resend: delivers transactional emails such as signup confirmations and credit receipts.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or pet photos to any third party for marketing purposes.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information only as long as necessary to provide the Service and comply with legal obligations:

• Account information is retained for the lifetime of your account and deleted within 30 days of account closure.
• Generation history (source photos and generated images) is retained until you delete it from your dashboard or close your account.
• Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by tax and financial regulations.
• Server logs and usage data are retained for 90 days for security and debugging purposes.

7. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights over your personal information:

• Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Rectification: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Deletion: request deletion of your account, pet photos, and generation history.
• Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Objection: object to certain processing of your personal information.
• Withdrawal of consent: withdraw any consent you previously gave, such as opt-in for model training.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences, and optional analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. We do not use cookies for cross-site advertising tracking. See our separate Cookie Policy for details.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information or pet photos from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@petanime.app and we will promptly delete it.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes affecting how we handle your pet photos or personal information, we will also send an email notification.
